The Start to Finish workshop is a unique workshop designed to teach you a process of goal and task setting and to help you develop comfort and fluency as a writer. You’ll learn by working on a specific goal that you’ve set for the eight week period of the workshop. Participants have completed chapters, literature reviews, proposals, as well as laid the ground work for the dissertation as a whole.
The workshop teaches you a productive practice while establishing supportive accountability for the goals you’ve set.
In addition to the techniques and practices you’ll learn, the workshop creates supportive accountability that helps you stay on task and gives you information about the way you work so that you can work more effeciently. Each week, we’l revist your goals for the week and discuss how it’s gone and what to do next. Throughout the week, you’ll track your work sessions and keep a journal that will enable me to speak to your needs within the context of the workshop. You’ll find that this information will give you a greater sense of control over the process.
The workshop begins with techniques for setting goals and breaking them down into accomplishable taks, techniques that extend to ways to establish a timeline for completing your goals. The workshop continues with practices that help you develop comfort and fluency a a writer and to develop a growth mindest toward writing as a part of your academic and professional life. You’ll develop a way to “think about your thnking” so that you can evaluate your process, re-evaluate your benchmarks, and make strategic decisions as a writer.
We’ll spend time at the end of the workshop looking at where your project needs to go. You’ll leave the workshop with a set of goals and tasks, as well as a calendar, to help you with the next phase of your work.
